Blocked Drainage Structures

A Fence and Pipe device protecting a pond drain from beaver damming.
Beavers realize that if they block the water flow through manmade structures such as retention ponds and manmade dam spillways, that they can impound a great deal of water with relatively little effort. Therefore water drainage structures are common sites for beaver damming. A dammed drainage structure can quickly cause dangerous and expensive flooding issues. Fortunately though, nearly every manmade drainage structure can be protected from beavers by installing a well-designed flow device, such as a Fence and Pipe flow device.
These devices are usually the most cost-effective, long-term, humane and environmentally friendly option to resolve beaver damming problems at water drainage structures.
