Assessing the Efficacy of Chlorophacinone for Mountain Beaver (Aplodontia rufa) Control

Arjo, Nolte, Primus, and Kohler explored trapping and control options used for the Mountain Beaver (Aplodontia rufa). This species is endemic to the Pacific Northwest and can cause damage to Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii). Control using toxicant-laced oats was effective in population control, though trapping and moving is an additional more costly option.
